2009 Riverside International Wine Competition
Results

A Canadian Pinot Blanc, a Monterey County red wine blend, and a Washington sparkling wine were the big winners Sunday at the 28th Riverside International Wine Competition staged at the Marriott Riverside.

The Pinot Blanc, from Peller Estate in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, was part of a trend in which wines from numerous areas of North America that previously had little recognition for their wines received gold medals.

Included in this remarkable showing were gold medals for wines from Wisconsin, South Dakota, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada, Maryland, and Virginia.

Moreover, New York continued to deliver smashing wines, and numerous smaller producers from California exhibited increased excellence as discovered by a professional panel of wine makers, wine journalists, and retailers.

The results indicate the growing quality of wines in regions that once had a hard time justifying the planting of grapes.

Moreover, the list of Chairman's Award-winning wines (59) represented more than 3% of all wines entered.

This year we continue to have the same exciting changes to the results site introduced last year. You may export results to Excel, print a certificate, print shelf-talkers, print bottle lables, and more. For details on all, see the two help links on the left-hand menu.

  • To get started, choose top awards or all awards.

    Congratulations to the winners!
